St. Michael Parish Hall expands in size and capacity to serve the congregation and the surrounding community.
We have been honored to work with St. Michael Catholic Church in San Diego over the past year to develop a master plan for their campus, starting with an expansion of their Parish Hall. Navigating the myriad of city codes with faith-based buildings can be a huge hassle.
But as an architect, I love working on projects that will have a positive impact on not only the client but also the life of the community. The church has been integral to a largely Filipino and Latino neighborhood in San Diego for over 60 years. It’s an important institution supporting a tight knit community with deep roots. Enlarging the Parish Hall will help sustain the congregation’s activities and grow their capacity for celebrations, gatherings, and other activities that are critical to the social and spiritual life of the church.
My father-in-law who passed away just over a month ago was very excited about this project when I told him about it. As a Filipino immigrant, he understood the importance of places like this. As we make progress on this project, he is very present in my thoughts.
